Scope of Position:
As part of the Global Plastics Engineering Department, you will assist in development and drive implementation of the global injection molding strategy, specifically the Corning Life Sciences (CLS) Division Engineering SMART Molding strategy and associated technology roadmaps to support implementation of Industry4.0 and SMART Manufacturing across the division. We look for you to be the subject matter expert for Injection Molding within CLS. Maintain and advance the CLS injection molding core capability and fundamental understanding at a world class level. Deliver robust, cost effective technical solutions in support of achieving lowest possible competitive costs, advantaged and innovative products, superior quality and service. Ensure Corning's Intellectual Property management process is followed, and any intellectual property developed as part of a project is properly documented. Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Recognized as a subject matter expert in the complete Injection Molding field and is sought out to provide guidance on risks, resources and opportunities regarding significant projects and technical issues throughout the CLS. Works with the other groups of the Global Plastics Engineering Department to develop and drive implementation of global core capabilities, strategies and technology roadmaps within plastics engineering. Owner of the CLS SMART Molding Strategy, including developing and maintaining internal and external networks for all associated technologies to ensure complete understanding of State of the Art both in the academia and industry. Drives implementation of new manufacturing technology. Develops injection molding solutions for new product introductions, product expansions and manufacturing system modernization. Provides support to automation and equipment teams and vendors during development of automation systems. Specifies all required injection molding process equipment. Manages the quotation, vendor selection, design and manufacturing processes of new equipment and tooling. Ensure Corning's Intellectual Property management process is followed, and any intellectual property developed as part of a project is properly documented. Ensure that processes are being used rigorously:
Innovation, Process Excellence, Project Management, Safety/Environmental, etc. Drive for Standardization and best practices. Travel Requirements:
Up to 25% domestic and including International travel. Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Monday - Friday, standard business hours; 40
hours. Required Education:
Bachelors of Science in Plastics Engineering or equivalent degree program required. Required Years and Area of
Experience:
Minimum of 7
years' experience with injection molding process development and debug using scientific injection molding principles. Minimum of 3
years' experience implementing complete injection molding cells, and all required auxiliary equipment. Required Skills:
Experience in both early and late stage innovation projects. Experience with multiple plastics manufacturing processes and multi-functional groups. Ability to consult and advise on projects. Progressive responsibilities within engineering. Track record of engineering accomplishments and transfer of manufacturing systems to production (e.g. participation on teams delivering capital projects to manufacturing, meeting continuous improvement goals, making step change process improvements, and expanding technical capability). Experience driving and implementing strategies. Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:
Knowledge of Life Sciences products and technologies. Prior experience in a plant or manufacturing facility. Performance Excellence training -green belt or higher certification. Project Management training. Foster Innovation and Risk Taking. Soft Skills:

Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
