The global Finance Function acts as a proactive business partner, advising and making recommendations based upon financial projections and historical performance. Finance also provides financial expertise companywide and ensures accurate and efficient transaction processing.
_Scope of Position_
Responsible for financial processes for US based manufacturing plant. Assists Plant Controller to close books on a monthly basis, analyze actual results, prepare business forecasts and long-term financial plans, analyze and seek approval for capital investments, work with plant personnel to identify and quantify cost reduction opportunities, maintain plant cost accounting systems, support tax and insurance filings, maintain internal control systems and compliance to Sarbanes Oxley requirements, ensure compliance to US GAAP and Corporate Accounting Policies, participate as a leader in setting and managing the direction of the plant.
_Day To Day Responsibilities_
Ensures entity compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures. Responsible for managing the period closing process preparation including posting of vouchers and accuracy of the general ledger. Ensures that required reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis. Provides ad-hoc financial analysis for plant controller and staff. Assists Controller with the financial portion of the budget and five year planning process for the Division.
Assists Controller with the monthly business financial closing and reporting and forecasting
Assists controller with monitoring and reports division financial performance to division management and plant management. Highlights variances that need corrective action.
Monitors spending and works with department managers to control costs. Researches and provides detail on expense variances.
Drives finance process improvement.
Provides financial analysis related to capital projects, cost reduction, and other initiatives as required.
Work Schedule/Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel as needed for meetings and training; Less than 10%
40 hours/wk plus overtime as required to accomplish objectives

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree (4 years) in Accounting/Finance
MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred
5-10 years relevant experience; preferable Manufacturing/Cost Accounting experience; (Combination of U.S. Big 4 public accounting firm and/or U.S. multinational corporation(s))
Required Skills
Strong computer skills; proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint, general ledger systems & forecasting tools
Ability to analyze and interpret data and link to business implications
Good analytical skills, presentation skills and problem solving capability
